VICTORIA – To help mark the first provincial AccessAbility Week, the B.C. government has announced $500,000 in funding to support projects that’ll remove barriers and improve accessibility across the province.

A call for proposals will be issued in the coming weeks for any organizations interested in applying for funding. Details will be available on Disability Alliance BC.

“There is a lot of great work happening throughout B.C. to enhance accessibility and inclusion,” said Sam Turcott, DABC’s advocacy access program director. “This funding recognizes these efforts, and will help organizations to move forward on projects and initiatives that will help people with disabilities participate more fully in their communities.”

More than 500,000 people in the province over 15 years of age identified as having a disability.
