Small Business Task Force Wants Input
Representatives from the local small business got to talk to the Small Business Task Force today.
Whether it’s concerned over minimum wage hikes or the Employer Health Tax, local business people spoke their minds to the three-member panel. The trio has visited Surrey, Nanaimo and Terrace so far and will visit three more communities after this stop. Members of the task force say the challenges facing small business vary between the different sized communities and from region to region.
“We are a unique province where you have differences in climate, differences in opportunities,” says task force member Shahraz Kassam. “Yes, it does pose a challenge and that’s why we’re here. Because if we strictly worked with urban small businesses, we would have a very, very wrong picture of small business.”
But Kassam says he knows that small business people could be challenged to attend the roundtable in person and strongly urge small business owners to share their thoughts online through engage.gov.bc.ca/smallbusiness
