Operation Red Nose Seeking Volunteers

PRINCE GEORGE — Operation Red Nose Prince George is seeking volunteers for its 21st season on the road.

This year, it will be in service Nov.30, Dec.1, Dec.7 and 8, Dec.14 and 15 and New Year’s Eve.

Ideally, spokesperson Andrea Johnson says they’d like a total of 300 volunteers to help meet the demand for rides, noting those who do volunteer find it a rewarding experience.

“Our volunteers who return year after year have a great time knowing they’ve made a difference in the community. We guarantee new volunteers will feel the same way.”

Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and be 19 years old.

“They can be part of a road team of three or work behind the scenes answering phones at Operation Red Nose headquarters,” she says.

New volunteers, or those with less than three years of experience, must fill out an application and get a Criminal Record Check.

Veteran volunteers can apply online to see whether or not they can forego the Criminal Record Check screening.

On average, Johnson says about 15 road teams of three will be on call each night of service, working from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Last year, she says Operation Red Nose Prince George delivered 838 safe rides home over nine nights.
