No Hard Feelings Between Pine Centre Mall and Salvation Army

PRINCE GEORGE — The controversy surrounding the carols sung by the Salvation Army musicians at Pine Centre Mall on Friday seems to have been resolved.

The Salvation Army cut their performance short following complaints of the music being too loud and the carols having religious content.

“The mall promotions manager had indicated that from her perspective that that was religious music, so I saw some potential miscommunication problems starting, so as the leader I decided to wrap everything up after that song,” says Captain Neil Wilkinson of the Salvation Army.

“Since that time, we’ve had conversations with the mall, and we’ve come to the understanding that the expectation of the mall is that traditional Christmas music is not perceived as religious music.”
