PRINCE GEORGE – It’s been a warm fall in the Prince George area thanks to the Pineapple Express.

“We’ve been under a pretty persistent ridge that’s stationed itself over the western half of North America and that results in a ridge in higher levels in the atmosphere and when that happens we get winds from down in the south coming up over B-C and that really increases the average temperature that we get,” said Peter Jackson UNBC Meteorologist.

With the warmer than average temperatures has come plenty of precipitation this month.  According to Environment Canada so far the month of November is in the top 5 precipitous months recorded for rain and snow with 74 millimetres of precipitation,  which took place over just four days. The average amount of precipitation for the month of November in the city is 55 millimetres.

Looking ahead, the warmth is expected to continue with a weak El Nino. Temperatures are likely to be warmer but precipitation will be the same, whether it comes in the form of rain or snow remains to be seen.
