District 57 gets new portables

PRINCE GEORGE – School District 57 will replace ten portables over the next five years, at a pace of two per year.

The District has 143 portables and many have been in service for 25 years. 

In a report to the Board of education, Administration found that those ten “… have surpassed their life expectancy, and in our climate, it would not be fiscally responsible to invest additional money into ongoing maintenance.”

The District is paying for the portables through a surplus and could afford to buy more. But, portables are in high demand in BC so Administration settled on two per year.
