Reversal wanted on Legebokoff transfer
PRINCE GEORGE — “I don’t think he should be able to get out of maximum security, get out of a little cubby hole for the rest of his life.”
That’s from Doug Leslie, the father of Loren Donn Leslie, one of the four victims of convicted serial killer Cody Legebokoff, in response to the news Legebokoff is being transferred from maximum security prison to medium security. Leslie said he only found out after the decision was made because he read it on Facebook from another victim’s parent.
It’s not only Leslie who wants the decision reversed, however, as Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty called for it as well. Speaking in the House of Commons late last week, Doherty challenged Minister of Public Safety Ralph Goodale on the subject. Goodale responded, “I’ll examine the facts and get back to [Doherty] with further information.”
There is concern from Doherty that the “reward” could be the first step towards putting Legebokoff in minimum security prison.
