Is air quality really better in the Hart?
PRINCE GEORGE- An air quality advisory has been lifted for the area and no matter what neighbourhood you live in, the effects would have been felt across town over the last couple of days. Air quality advisories are issued when there’s a higher concentration of fine particulate matter than normal. That’s caused by things like industry, vehicles, and wood burning. A number of advisories have been issued over the last month due to persistent weather conditions. But on a day to day basis, it’s said the air quality is better on the north side of town. That’s been a major selling point for people in the Hart. “You actually see it quite often when listing a home is that people do ask you to point out that the air quality is a little bit better up here,” said realtor, Colin Breadner. Air Quality Meteorologist, Gail Roth, confirming that… saying higher concentrations of fine particulate matter typically settle in low lying areas. But she says if you or your neighbours improperly burn wood that could affect your air. She adds there are many other factors to keep in mind when comparing air quality from neighbourhood to neighbourhood.
