Decorated local veteran dies aged 96
PRINCE GEORGE – Armand Denicola, a longtime resident of the Prince George Area and decorated veteran has passed away. Denicola served his country during the Second World War and was part of the allied invasion of France in 1944.
Denicola arrived in Prince George in 1925 with his family aged three. An immigrant from Italy, Denicola was a proud Canadian and worked as a cowboy at a local ranch before enlisting in the Canadian Scottish Regiment.
For his part in the liberation of France, Armand received the National Order of the Legion of Honour, the highest military honour of France. Despite the numerous accolades, his friends knew him as a humble man who was kind to everyone he met.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people make a donation to the Legion or the Prince George Hospice Society.
