Police presence at Polaris for second time in under a week
PRINCE GEORGE — Polaris Montessori Elementary School was put under a Hold and Secure today due to another threat in the area. It was issued just before 1 PM and given the all clear around 2:30 PM. While RCMP say this one was not directed specifically towards the school, it’s still the second incident of its kind in under a week.
On Friday, the school was evacuated due to threats, but details on that situation still seem to be foggy. Fast forward to Monday, police were again in the vicinity of Polaris. Firm details of the recent events haven’t been easy to come by as RCMP continue to investigate.
School District 57 Chair Tim Bennett sympathizes with parents’ concerns over the recent issues. His son goes to Polaris and said they are taking all the proper precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
When threats or anything else comes to light that could potentially put students or staff in danger, decisions on how to proceed are made by the school board with RCMP passing along its judgment as well.
