YMCA Megathon exceeds fundraising goal
PRINCE GEORGE- The fifth annual YMCA Megathon to benefit the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign took place this past Saturday. It is the organizations biggest fundraiser of the year and the goal of this year’s event was to raise $10,000 and once the numbers were tallied up, over $12,000 was raised.
The money will be going to the Strong Kids campaign which supports kids to participate in YMCA’s programs and activities where they otherwise would not be able to.
Individuals and teams signed up to participate in the half-day fitness challenge that included activities like Zumba, Pound, Cardio Box, Stretch and Relax, and cycling. The only requirement to participate in the event was a $30 entry fee or by raising $150 in donations.
By the end of August, YMCA has an overall goal of $60,000 they want to raise that will help over 200 kids participate in their summer programs and camps.
