The Prince George Cougars could not find a way to hold onto their lead late in the third period last night against the Kamloops Blazers, losing 4-2. The Cougars had a 2-1 lead with five minutes to play before the Blazers mounted a comeback to keep their playoff hopes alive.

After a scoreless first period saw the Blazers outshoot Prince George 14-11, the Blazers opened the scoring just about halfway through the second. Kobe Mohr got his ninth of the season from Quinn Schmiemann and Connor Zary.

The Cougars then answered back a few minutes later with Vladislav Mikhalchuk scoring his 25th of the season to make it a 1-1 game after 40 minutes. The Cougars outshot Kamloops 14-4 in the second period.

With five and a half minutes to play, Prince George’s Cole Moberg scored his 13th of the year shorthanded to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead. The lead did not last long though as Jermaine Loewen scored his 27th of the year just 15 seconds after Moberg scored.
