PRINCE GEORGE – 529 Garage is into its third summer of registering bikes for people as a way to reduce theft and improve recovery of stolen. Since it started, Corporal Craig Dougass says volunteers have registered more than 2,500 bikes. And that is likely to grow as the local RCMP has a new partner, Evolve Bike.
“Quite a few bikes have been stolen in Prince George lately. It’s gone up and up and up,” explains Bart Hobson, Manager for Evolve Bike. “Corporal Craig Douglass contacted us and asked if we’d be involved with the program, 529 Garage. Which is the easiest way for them to recover bikes.”
He says it was a natural fit for Evolve Bike, which now automatically registers every bike sold in the store with 529 Garage.
