PRINCE GEORGE — Caring for older adults will be the focus of a symposium coming to Prince George next month.

It takes place November 7 and 8 at the Prince George Civic Centre and has been organized by the BC Academic Health Science Network.

Topics up for discussion will include dementia, healthy aging, and seniors care.

Those in attendance will include physicians, clinicians, caregivers, patient partners and researchers.

Susan Tapp, housing information coordinator for the Prince George Council of Seniors, says one area of particular concern of hers is making sure that housing meets the needs of seniors.

“Does it have any bars to help them? Does it have a lip in their tub? You know, what’s going to happen if their laundry is on a different floor? What can they do right? And to be aware of these things looking for housing.”
