PRINCE GEORGE – Studio Fair lets PG residents buy unique handmade items while giving artists a chance to learn from one another.

Colleen Fitzpatrick from C&J Fitzpatrick Pottery says it’s a great place to find new ideas and meet regular visitors who return every year.

“The artisans’ talent is inspiring and motivating, and everyone is eager to share their stories. It’s a great chance to learn.”

The fair runs from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 at the CN Centre. More than 300 artisans from the region, province, and across Canada will bring pottery, woodworking, clothing, home goods, and gourmet food.

Fitzpatrick says you can browse the work or visit artists you already know.

“We have people who become regulars. They enjoy our pottery, return each year, and love the event.”

Returning customers give her a chance to connect with people at the fair. She says visitors come from Prince George and nearby areas, with some returning every year.

She also values meeting other artists. Their work inspires her, and the conversations are a great way to share experiences.

“Each year is a chance to learn new things and build skills. Next year, we hope to bring even more exciting and beautiful work.”

Studio Fair organizer Lisa Redpath says it takes a whole year to plan the event. On loading day, vendors arrive from all over BC, Alberta, and Manitoba.

“It’s a bit chaotic, but when everything comes together, it’s wonderful to see.”

Redpath says the venue is full. She’s working with Central Display and CN Centre staff to finalize the layout.

“We don’t have a square to spare at this point.”

Admission also supports arts programming beyond the fair. All admission proceeds go directly to Studio 2880 arts programming.

Redpath says this support helps local artisans, guilds, and community groups in the Arts Council.

“We’re absolutely thrilled when people come through the gate. They’re here and supporting the arts in so many ways.”

Redpath says the fair features painting, pottery, woodworking, leatherwork, and metalwork. She also mentions that several performing arts groups take part.

For Fitzpatrick, the fair is the perfect mix, meeting customers, seeing what other artists are doing, and thinking about her next steps.

If you’d like to attend, the fair is open Friday, Oct. 30 from 10am to 8pm, Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10am to 6pm, and Sunday, Nov. 1 from 10am to 4pm.

General admission is $10, and kids under 12 get in free. They’re also collecting non-perishable food for the local food bank.
