CARIBOO–A new program aimed at ensuring emergency preparedness and communication between rural and non-rural areas in the Cariboo Regional District has been launched.

The objective of the Community Liason program is to reduce risks by creating communication links between those isolated communities in the region and the local government. The areas chosen to work on were indicated as needed areas in need of improvement in the region’s Wildfire Community Consultations.

As the first step to attempt to connect residents living rurally, an information table will be set up at the Cariboo Regional District’s next information fair in Williams Lake today, Oct.22nd, at the Cariboo Memorial Complex from 4:30-7 PM.

The Community Liaison program is funded by the Canadian Red Cross through its Community Partnership Program, BC Fires 2017.
