PGYSA preparing for potential effects of Covid-19

The sports scene was flipped on its head last week when professional sports leagues closed shop because of the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide.

The trickle-down effect has been felt in our region as local leagues have cancelled the remainder of their respective seasons.

However, when it comes to sports which typically begin in the spring, they are just wondering when they can begin.

For the Prince George Youth Soccer Association the news came at a beneficial time as their high-performance training program was currently on a two-week hiatus for spring break and were about to enter their third block.

Now the Association has had to put their entire operations on hold because of the Carona virus.

The tentative date for the outdoor season to begin was the 2nd Wednesday of May, but depending on how everything plays out across the globe with Covid-19 there could be some changes to the 2020 season.

Whether that be scheduling more games in a week than they usually do or going later into the summer, that is up in the air. However, for the Association they are taking it one day at a time and they are thankful for all of the support from both their board and their members.
