PRINCE GEORGE—Tourism Prince George is celebrating Tourism Week 2020 virtually this year.

Tourism Week is a way to celebrate the contributions that local tourism operators and businesses make to their city’s, and B.C.’s tourism industry.

“Our communities and the people in them are the true hearts of the tourism industry.”—Clint Fraser, CEO of Northern B.C. Tourism

This year’s Tourism Week festivities have been moved to virtual platforms. Tourism Prince George is taking to social media to share stories of local tourism operators, conducting polls with the community, and showcasing tourism success stories over the past year.

“While this year’s celebrations have certainly looked different than years past, what hasn’t changed is our true northern spirit, and our commitment to our tourism stakeholders and operators,” said Tracey McBride, CEO of Tourism Prince George.

Tourism has been one of the hardest hit sectors by the COVID-19 pandemic, however, McBride says that the tourism industry has shown resiliency and is optimistic about the future.
