Have you registered your bike with 529 Garage? Here’s your chance

PRINCE GEORGE—Have you registered your bike?

Well if you haven’t than maybe you can next weekend as the Prince George Nechako Rotary Club and the Prince George RCMP team up for the Great Big Bike Registry on Sunday, August 9. Rotary volunteers and local representatives of the RCMP will be at eight different locations across the city encouraging cyclists to register their bikes with 529 Garage, a comprehensive bike registry and recovery system with the goal of deterring bike theft.

529 Garage—which can be accessed via the 529 Garage app or or online—assists police in returning stolen bikes efficiently to their rightful owners.

A goal of 500 registered bikes at the Great Big Bike Registry has been set for this year. The registration process is free and volunteers will be following COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.

2. College Heights Secondary parking lot, 6180 Domano Blvd. from 9a.m.-11
3. Hart Highlands Elementary School, 2233 Sussex Lane from 11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m.
4. Vanway Elementary, 4509 Highway 16 West from 11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m.
5. DP Todd Secondary parking lot, 4444 Hill Ave. from 2 p.m.-4
6. Duchess Park City park, 2425 Ross Crescent from 2 p.m.-4
7. Blackburn Community Centre, 2451 Blackburn Rd. S from 4:15 p.m.-6
8. Nusdeh Yoh Elementary School, 2579 Victoria St. from 4:15 p.m.-6

529 Garage allows bike owners to create online profiles that include photos of their bike, bike serial numbers, and photos of them with their bike. If a bike that is registered with the online service is stolen, the owner can use the app or head online to notify police of the theft.
