The LEAP Conference for Women in Business Goes Virtual

Are you still thinking about registering for the LEAP Conference for Women in Business?

Perhaps you are a bit uncertain as to how attending a virtual conference will allow you to experience those usual conference networking opportunities that are so vital to career growth—whether it’s the exchange of business cards while waiting in line for coffee or an intentional connection made at an after-conference networking event. Although handshakes might be off the table with physically distanced virtual events, professional one-on-one connections are still possible, and the networking features of conference apps actually enhance the possibilities of making and building on those connections.

When Community Futures decided to go virtual for the LEAP Conference for Women in Business, we knew we would need to find a conference app that could offer networking to the attendees in an easy and fun way. The application we selected is called Whova and because it’s interactive it allows attendees to become immersed in the conference and networking experience. Two of the features that will facilitate professional and social networking are the Attendee Profiles and the Community Boards.

Attendee Profiles are essentially customized name tags without the lanyards. Attendees build their profiles with information on their profession, industry, educational background, location, and interests, which is then available to other attendees at the conference. The Whova app can use this information to suggest networking matches for attendees, and attendees can create discussion groups, virtual meet ups, and chat one-on-one—before, during, and after the conference!

Community Boards are one of the most important networking features in making virtual events a success. Organizers can create thematic threads and attendees can create their own discussion topics to seek expertise from others in the group. This feature is great for all attendees, whether you’re a conversation starter, idea generator, conversation contributor, or somewhere in between.

These are just two of the many interactive features that the Whova conference platform has to offer. The opportunities to learn, grow, and connect are bountiful. Are you ready to take the LEAP with us and register for the LEAP Conference for Women in Business?
