VICTORIA—Patients at hospitals and residential care facilities in Northern Health are about to have more B.C. food options on their meal trays.

Northern Health is now part of Feed B.C. a Provincial initiative to build B.C.’s food supply and support jobs and businesses for farmers, fishers, ranchers and food processors, while offering more B.C. foods to patients, and students.

“I’m so excited Northern Health is now part of Feed BC. We’re opening the door for a multitude of new, exciting business opportunities for B.C. farmers, fishers, ranchers and processors and I know they’re looking forward to providing more of their delicious products in the North.”—Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture is working with supply-chian partners to increase opportunities for northern producers and processors interested in selling to B.C.’s public-sector institutions.

Northern Health supports the health and wellness of more than 300,000 British Columbians in an area covering more than 600,000 square kilometres and operates 27 hospitals and residential care facilities serving over 1.9 million meals per year.
