PRINCE GEORGE—A local author’s book about a romance brought together by the search for a Canadian soldier who disappeared after writing his last journal entry, will be available electronically.

Brenda Margriet’s book, After Words, is a fictional story of the search for a mysterious but real Canadian soldier named, William Henry Smith. Smith had been a member of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and took part in D-Day during World War II.

“I was fascinated by William’s story, and became even more interested when I learned that, despite all the evidence available, better minds than mine had not been able to find out what happened to him after his last diary entry, or even discover who his family was.”—Brenda Margriet, Author, After Words

It is unknown what happened to Smith after his final journal entry and there is no mention of who his family was. The story’s characters are brought together in their search for Smith. Margriet adds that since Smith’s actual fate is unknown, she was able to create a happy ending for both of her characters, Leeza and Gavin, and the search for William’s family.
