Virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony

Nov 5, 2020 | 10:30 AM

PRINCE GEORGE—Remembrance Day is under a week away, and this year, locals are being asked to celebrate differently.

With the effects of the pandemic in full force, this year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony will be hosted virtually. Starting at 10:30 a.m., CKPG-TV will present combined pre-recorded and live presentation, while at around 10:40 a.m., on November 11th, the live outdoor ceremony will be streamed through Blake Productions’ YouTube channel and through the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43’s Facebook page.

The live streamed segment will be over at around 11:10 a.m. Event organizers are asking that Prince George residents do not visit the Cenotaph in person at 11 a.m., rather that they stand at the end of their driveway, their balcony or doorway at 11 a.m. for two minutes of silence.

“We invite everyone to post pictures to their social media accounts as you honour our fallen comrades. #WeWillRememberThem.”—Release by Legion Branch 43

Those who would like to place a wreath or poppy at the Cenotaph may do so between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on November 11th, and are asked to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

The Royal Canadian Legion will open to the public from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., with limited space available.
