PRINCE GEORGE – Just one more sleep until the 3rd Annual Miracle on Third, and with the struggles and stressed that 2020 has brought upon us, it felt important that mental health was top of mind when deciding this year’s beneficiary.

“Mental health is so important, even more so with layoffs and stuff like that, mental health at low-cost services we felt were so important to the community to help support,” said The Community Counselling Centre offering very low-cost or no-cost services to people in the community was very much at the top of our list of organizations we want to see thrive here in Prince George.”

The Community Counselling Centre serves two important functions in the north: providing low cost, low barrier long term mental health services for community members, and training masters level counselling students with high-quality teaching and training in mental health.

“To know that; A, people struggle in general. B, we’re seeing more and higher levels of distress because of the pandemic and now going into the holiday season. For some, this is just that extra layer on what has already been a tough year. We know the holiday season can be really hard on people,” said Toni Carlton, Board Chair at the Community Counselling Centre. “Knowing that the Miracle on Third community is going to support the counselling centre, and knowing that we”’ have that community-level support to keep services going is awesome.”

Due to the pandemic and it’s heightened restrictions, this year’s event will be occurring digitally, with donations being accepted online through CKPGToday.ca, as well as our sister radio stations 101.3 the River and 99.3 the Drive websites.
