PRINCE GEORGE — For the third time in as many months last weekend, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) paid Prince George a visit.

From Thursday Nov.26 to Saturday Nov. 28, the Prince George RCMP says UGET assisted local Mounties with targeting and disrupting drug trafficking groups responsible for the increased level of violence this fall.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says many checks on persons known to be involved in criminal activity were made resulting in the seizure of large amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl, along with thousands of dollars in cash and several weapons.

While here, Douglass says UGET were successful in doing the following:

  • Checked 85 people;
  • Stopped 60 vehicles;
  • Seized several weapons including a firearm, a hatchet, a baton, multiple knives including throwing knives, two replica firearms and ammunition;
  • Seized over $10,000 in cash

Douglass says police want to remind local residents to stay vigilant and report incidents to the police as soon as possible.

If you have any information about violence or illegal firearms, he urges you to call the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477.
