Fatal head-on crash south of Quesnel

QUESNEL — One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash just south of Quesnel on Highway 97 at around 9:10 this morning.

RCMP say a southbound SUV lost control due to icy conditions and struck a northbound truck at Whitecotton Road, about 12 kilometres south of Quesnel.

A female passenger in the SUV passed away while another person in the SUV was taken to hospital.

The highway was closed but has now reopened to single-lane alternating traffic.
