PRINCE GEORGE – Many sports facilities across the province sit empty, while sports teams wait for the green light from health officials to compete again.

However, sports tourism Prince George continues to work and plan toward a future of hosting large sporting events.

Back in the March of 2020, the city was told the World Women’s Curling Championships were canceled due to COVID-19.

Shortly after this announcement, other large sporting events were also canceled in Prince George but Tourism PG hasn’t given up hope on hosting the BC summer games in 2022.

Sport Tourism Prince George sees the summer of 2022 as likely the first time the city will once again host a large sporting event.

The Canadian Native Fastball Championships were also casualties of the pandemic last summer and they note it’s going to be a hard call to make in trying to host the event for 2021.
