Vaccine rollout messaging causing confusion in Northern Health

Mar 11, 2021 | 4:38 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – The messaging from the BC Minister of Health Adrian Dix has confused many seniors across Northern BC according to multiple seniors centres in Prince George, and the PG Council of Seniors.

“When the messaging is constantly changing, it’s hard to follow and understand,” says Lola-Dawn Fennell, Executive Director of the Prince George Council of Seniors.

Late on Wednesday through a live television broadcast, BC Health Minister Adrian Dix revealed the vaccine rollout had been going so well across the province that more people could call in sooner.

In a tweet, Dix later specified this:

Meanwhile, in Northern Health the messaging is different and has been different for the vaccine rollout due to lower numbers in seniors.

Asking those 80 years of age and older to begin calling on March 10th, a different date altogether than what the Minister’s tweet implies.

That was not specified by Dix.

Northern Health has advised the public to carefully look into your specific health authority as the dates differ across BC.

These are the dates for Northern Health that have not changed since the vaccine plan was revealed on Sunday.
