Seniors housing coming to Vanderhoof
VANDERHOOF – It looks like a giant marshmallow beside Ferland Park in Vanderhoof. But underneath, workers are building a seniors housing complex.
There will be eight dementia units on the ground floor while there will be independent living units on the second and third floor. A very welcome addition to the community as many seniors are housed in St. John Hospital because there are no options for seniors in that community.
“We had this old piece of property. It used to be the old Government Agent’s office. We were glad to give that over to the project,” says Mayor Gerry Thiessen.
He says it makes much more sense to keep seniors in their own communities where they have family and friends.
