PRINCE GEORGE – Today is Earth Day, started in San Fransisco in 1970. It’s a day to reflect on how you may contribute to the health of the planet we call home.

The Executive Director for REAPS, Terri McClymont, is so into Earth Day, she celebrates what she calls “Earth Week.” And that week is capped off by the annual Spring Clean Up on Sunday.

“I’m happy to say it’s been going for a hundred years. So if you go back in the minutes of City Council back in 1915, you’ll see mention of Spring Clean Up. So, it’s a chance to give back to the community. So in areas where they typically walk or around their neighbourhoods, just to pick up the trash that appears when the snow melts.”

There are special bags that can be picked up at REAP’s office on Gorse Street and you can pop on to their website if you want to register a team.
