PRINCE GEORGE – Highway 16 near Cluculz Lake continues to be down to a single lane following a landslide Wednesday afternoon.

It’s estimated it will take over a month to repair the washout which is frustrating to the MLA in the area.

Nechako Lakes Liberal MLA John Rustad says in 2018 the section of the highway near the intersection of Highway 16 and Lloyd Road was on the books for an upgrade, which hasn’t happened.

Meantime, contractors Yellowhead Road and Bridge are widening the highway around the slide so their crews can work safely.

A large amount of water pooled under the highway and washed out a part of the road and barrier.

As the upgrading engineering plans are completed for this section, Rustad says this would be the best time to upgrade the highway.
