Emotions run high as communities mourn an Ontario family killed in a targeted attack.

PRINCE GEORGE – Four family members are dead and a nine-year-old is fighting for his life after a suspected targeted attack on Sunday.

The family, from London Ontario, was struck by a car as they walked along the sidewalk. Police believe that the family was targeted because they were Muslim.

There is evidence that this was a planned, premeditated act, motivated by hate. – London Police Service.

Premier John Horgan and Rachna Singh, Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism Initiatives issued a joint statement. They called the attack ‘heart-wrenching and horrific beyond words.’

We acknowledge and understand the hurt, anguish and fear many Muslim Canadians are feeling after this heinous attack.

As communities continue to mourn the tragic loss of the family, resources are available to those who need support.

Twenty year old, Nathaniel Veltman, has been arrested and charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder, he will appear in court on a later day.

According to police, Veltman was wearing “a vest that appeared to be body armour” at the time of his arrest.

Out front of the Prince George Islamic Centre, neighbours have started to place flowers in memory of the victims.
