PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George Mounties say a traffic stop led to a seizure of over $130,000 in cash recently.

RCMP Cst. Jennifer Cooper says on May 27, officers received a tip that a male driver was slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle for several hours.

“Members attended the location on Damms Road and located the vehicle. The driver exhibited signs of impairment by drugs and police observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.”

She says investigators arrested the man and seized drug paraphernalia and over $130,000 in cash. Police issued the 30-year-old Vancouver man a 24-hour driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded.

Cooper says police have launched a proceeds of crime investigation and will also be contacting the Civil Forfeiture Office. This office targets the proceeds and instruments of unlawful activity. The money is reinvested in B.C. communities in the form of crime prevention grants and compensation to eligible victims.
