Big Brothers Big Sisters excited to host events again as restrictions lift

PRINCE GEORGE – The province is now in step two of the BC Restart Plan which is good news for organizations who are hoping to hold events in the near future.

For the past year, Big Brothers Big Sisters has had to adjust the way they connect like many other organizations.

“We pride ourselves on being able to bring people together. We did get creative – a lot of our matches met virtually and we were putting together a number of virtual programs as well for kids to participate in,” said Jane Gauthier from Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The group is optimistic for the future as BC is on track to return to life as normal. They already have plans in the works for future events and programs like canoe and kayaking lessons, the Big Squeeze lemonade competition, and another golf event for this summer.

“A huge thank you to the City of Prince George for all of their support over the last year and a half. It’s been tough for us but the city has really stepped up and supported us and our kids. We are excited to host events and give back to the community,” continued Gauthier.

According to the BC restart plan, in less than two weeks, BC residents could start to engage in larger events and festivities if everything continues to go as planned.
