PRINCE GEORGE–With COVID-19 restrictions loosening, Theatre Northwest is bringing back a popular series that’s available for audience members starting this weekend: stage readings.

Starting this weekend, Theatre Northwest will be hosting a stage reading of “The Last Wife” by Kate Henning. It’s a modern retelling of Catherine just before and after the death of Henry the Eight.

Executive Director Marnie Hamagami says this is a great way to get local artists back on the stage.

“For us it was a great opportunity for us to get our local artists up on stage, and also have our audience in the space. Now that reopening is slowly happening, it’s a program we hope to continue through and to the fall.” said Hamagami.

She says the theatre is also planning for at least two pride-inspired stage readings next month, one of which is a comedy. Down the road, Hamagami says she’s hoping to have the first full on production by November if restrictions continue to be lifted.
