Sweltering temperatures

Sticky Situation on Chief Lake Road

PRINCE GEORGE – The sweltering temperatures are wreaking havoc on a section of Chief Lake road. The plus 30 temperatures and road traffic are melting the tar and allowing it to stick to some vehicles as they drive over the hot pavement.

Local resident Mike Smith continues to use a special solvent to remove tar off his truck today after he drove over a section of Chief Lake road with his travel trailer in tow this weekend.

Smith tried to avoid the melting tar on the road, which happens to be in the same area where road crews had an issue with the road surface last summer.

According to YRB, they have seen road surface temperatures rise to unprecedented levels, affecting the paved road.

YRB continues to monitor the road and has assessed the segment of Chief Lake and does not have concerns with the integrity of the road.

YRB will continue to handle damage claims, and anyone with vehicles affected is asked to call YRB at 1-800-218-8805.
