PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Wildfire Service and the Prince George Natural Resource District will be busy conducting a wildfire risk reduction project adjacent to Heather Park Elementary this summer.

It will take place on Crown Land with crews on site from July to August, when school is out for the summer.

“The project will be conducted manually and will include the removal of dead standing and fallen trees, pruning of branches, removal of fine fuels and juvenile conifers under 7.5cm in diameter. All debris will be chipped and removed from site, and no burning will take place on site,” says the Prince George Fire Centre.

No road closures are expected though public access during the work may be limited.
