Firearms and drug bust at Highway 97 and 15th Ave

PRINCE GEORGE – A man from Prince George has was arrested following a drug and firearms bust.

Prince George RCMP says at around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning (July 5), RCMP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a roadside stop and began an impaired driving investigation.

During the roadside investigation, the RCMP officer arrested the driver for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the driver and vehicle after the arrest located a stolen loaded pistol. Police also found cash, drugs and a bag full of ammunition.

The driver is identified as 40-year-old resident Kenneth Raymond Bishop.

The BC Prosecution Service approved the following charges:

  • Possession of firearms ammunition contrary to Order
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Transport of a firearm in a careless manner
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a scheduled substance
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

Mr. Bishop will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
