PRINCE GEORGE – Council has set out what role it plans to play with a new Food Policy Council.

It was presented with three options, with the first having heavy City involvement in the Food Council and the third having very little involvement aside from being at the table.

With the completion of the City’s Poverty Reduction Plan, 19 recommendations were made and four of them focus on food insecurity.

“They were all considered important. But we really present it from the perspective of what can be done always. Always because of an advocacy role for local government. Now, which are things that are going to be done now, in six month’s time, Soon and Later.”

Council ultimately settled on the third option, indicating a willingness to be at the table but not at the head of the table.
