PRINCE GEORGE–A Prince George father and son who have spent the last eight years raising money for the BC Children’s hospital have finally reached their goal.

Rajinder Sharma and his 11-year old son Sunjai have been collecting cans and bottles for years to give back to the hospital. At birth, Sunjai had a condition called sagittal synostosis, causing his skull to prematurely fuse, preventing proper brain growth.

The hospital had to perform surgery, leaving him with 57 stitches. The two wanted to be able to give back to the hospital so they came up with an idea: $1,000 raised for every stitch he was given.

Today, the two have finally reached their goal and currently sit at a total of $57,060 raised. Rajinder says that he received a generous donation from a friend of $1,200 to reach their goal.

The two say they’re not planning on stopping are going to continue raising money anyway they can.

If you would like to help, you can donate cans and bottles in their name or donate directly to their GoFundMe page.

Cans and bottles can be donated to the PG Recycling and Return-it Centre under account number #7783497865 and at Nechako Bottle Depot under account #317.

Their GoFundMe page can be found here.
