PRINCE GEORGE — Construction has begun to increase access to Shane Lake at Forests for the World.

Construction includes widening of the 570-metre UNBC Greenway Connector trail to four metres to allow more foot traffic and increase access for service vehicles. The project will also create drainage off the trail to help mitigate muddy conditions.

Crews have also replaced two outhouses with new accessible facilities and added four new accessible picnic tables. The dock has been upgraded with stairs and a railing, and crews will soon add a wheelchair-accessible path to the dock as well. The goal of this project is to ensure that the Lake is accessible to everyone.
