BC Liberals leadership hopeful Michael Lee visits Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – For the second time in as many weeks, another BC Liberals leadership candidate has arrived in Prince George.

Michael Lee arrived in Prince George on Sunday and will be in town throughout the week to meet with business owners, the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, and others in the community as he makes his bid for leader of the party.

“What I believe I bring is leadership that will restore trust,” says Lee.

Even though Lee is the MLA for Vancouver-Langara only being in office since 2017, he is no stranger to Northern BC.

Lee says his background with resource companies plays into his understanding of how important forestry, mining, and other industries are for B.C.

Lee is currently the Transportation Critic and is a former Justice Critic, and says he knows how important Prince George and Northern BC are to the success of the province.

Furthermore, Lee made a point of mentioning the Prince George Airport and it’s importance as a hub.

A big part of Lee’s campaign, like others in the running, includes renewing the BC Liberals as a party, but inclusion and diversity are also big themes for the first-generation Canadian.

“I started as someone who was born and raised in Vancouver, my parents were born and raised in Hong Kong in the ’50s and 60’s, I understand the importance of everyone is working harder to build a better future for their children and grandchildren,” says Lee.

Lee is competing against four other candidates for the BC Liberals leadership including Kevin Falcon, Ellis Ross, Gavin Dew, and Val Litwin.

Lee says he’ll be back in town again ahead of a vote by party members come February 2022.
