Highway 97 southwest of Chetwynd re-opens, Pine Pass wildfire grows to 2,000 hectares

PRINCE GEORGE — Highway 97 between Powder King Road and Old Hasler Road fully re-opened Saturday (Aug. 14).

Fire crews are still on scene and Drive B.C. asks drivers to pass through with care.

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) confirmed several structures were lost in the aggressive 2,000-hectare wildfire near Powder King along Highway 97 that was initially reported late Friday afternoon.

According to the BCWS this fire is believed to be human caused.
