PRINCE GEORGE– Wildfires continue to tear up B.C. as there are currently just over 250 wildfires burning in the province with over 3,800 firefighters on the frontlines trying to protect multiple cities and forests.

With over 50 active fires in the Prince George region it seems like this situation will be never ending. Not all is grim though as mother nature might be helping us out very soon with expected thunderstorms this weekend.

However even though all the potential rain we could get this weekend might seem like a good thing there are still plenty of risks that come with it.

“The majority of the fires in the Prince George Fire Centre have been lightning caused and we need to watch out for positive lightning strikes when these types of storms happen”-Sharon Nickel PG Fire Centre

Though the fire situation remains serious, things have gotten better in the past 24 hours.

The number of evacuation orders in the province has dropped from 80 to 75 and over 1000 properties have been taken off evacuation alert and order.

Still there are nearly 600 out of province firefighters and nearly 18,000 properties around B.C. on evacuation alert.

As the wildfire situation is continually evolving it becomes a problem that people are watching closely waiting for an end game.
