In-person classes kick off at UNBC

Sep 8, 2021 | 4:29 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – Those first-day jitters mixed with a sigh of relief, UNBC students returned to campus on Wednesday for the first in-person classes since the beginning of the pandemic.

“It’s really exciting and almost a bit emotional. It’s been so long since we’ve had a hustling and bustling campus. It’s been since March of 2020 since you had to think about being early to get a spot and as you can see if you drove down to the parking lots, they’re completely full,” said UNBC’s Interim President, Dr. Geoff Payne.

The school continues to ensure it’s COVID-19 safety compliant and is requiring students to wear a mask in all indoor public spaces. Northern Health was on site on Wednesday as well with a pop-up vaccination clinic for anyone who wanted to update their immunization status. UNBC is still working on a vaccination mandate plan.
