FRINGE PARTY

Fringe Parties look to have a bigger effect than usual on Federal Election

PRINCE GEORGE– When you first think of parties running in the Federal Election you likely think of Conservative, Liberals, NDP, and even the Green Party. However, parties that often get overlooked are smaller parties, only referred to as fringe Parties.

One of those fringe Parties is Canada’s Fourth Front. Phil Hewkin is running with them and his goal is to bring direct democracy to the people.

The Peoples Party of Canada (PPC) was considered a fringe party prior to the campaign, however, as political science instructor Chris Beach says, they might have a bigger impact on the election than previously expected.

Although it might not affect here in Prince George, in the Lower Mainland where votes are up in the air, the PPC could take away some votes from the conservatives. Just like sometime the NDP takes votes away from the Liberals.

Jeremy Gustafson is the candidate for the PPC in Cariboo-Prince George and when asked about this upcoming election he seemed excited and encouraged people to come out and vote.

Election Day is this Monday and the polls will be open from 7 am until 7 pm with multiple voting stations around the city.
