COVID-19 outbreak declared at University Hospital of Northern BC

PRINCE GEORGE — Northern Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the Primary Care Medical Unit (PCMU) at the University Hospital of Northern B.C this weekend.
The declaration from Northern Health comes after lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 among patients and staff. In a release today (Sept 26), Northern Health says nine patients, and one staff member have tested positive in association with the outbreak.
Monitoring and testing is underway to identify any additional cases, along with enhanced outbreak control measures.
UHNBC has also increased cleaning and infection control measures, enhanced symptom monitoring among all PCMU staff and patients, limited movement of staff and patients between care areas of the hospital, and is restricting the unit to essential visitors only.
