Highways closing causes trucks to delay supplies to businesses across the province

PRINCE GEORGE– With flooding this week shutting down crucial highways, not surprisingly it’s having a ripple effect on truckers delivering to various businesses here in Prince George

As a result, it’s causing problems for trucking companies forced to find alternate routes in order to deliver supplies to businesses across the province

Many grocery stores are already running low on products because of the closures of the highways and uncertainty on when new products will arrive.

Arlene Gagne Director of the BC Truckers Association believes it may take a couple of extra days for deliveries however it’s something that people should be used to now with 2 years of experience in a pandemic. She also says that safety is the number one priority they’re focusing on and asks people to be patient given the circumstances.

Locally it hurts some businesses in Prince George with many of them relying on those trucks to deliver supplies and goods for their consumers, however, it provides people yet another opportunity to support local, especially with the holidays approaching.

How this situation unfolds remains to be seen but we’ll be watching closely to see what kind of impact this will have on people and businesses.
