Fort St. John – On January 29, just after 6:30 pm, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of a bomb threat to Moose FM, a locally owned radio station.

The threat consisted of a voicemail left by a man threatening to pipe bomb the radio station for not covering the local truck convoy enough.

“It was kind of surreal like you don’t think that this isn’t actually going to happen. It is someone who is angry right?” explains Adam Reaburn, who owns and operates Moose FM in Fort St. John. “It was like okay yes, I’ve got to you know to report this, because we just don’t know, especially right now, how serious anyone is.”

The Fort St John RCMP responded immediately and secured the radio station, and utilized the Peace/Liard RCMP Police Dog Services Unit to clear the building for any explosives.

Through investigation, it was determined that the threat had been made by a man who resides in Fort St John. The man was located, arrested for uttering threats, and was held for court.

“Our community members, including local businesses, deserve to feel safe,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP. “The Fort St John RCMP takes a threat like this very seriously and we are glad to say that no pipe bomb was found either at the radio station or at the man’s residence.”

Philip Testawitch attended court on Monday, January 31, and is facing charges of Uttering Threats and Intimidation by Threatening Violence. Testawitch was remanded to police custody to attend court again later today, February 1.
