Heavy snow warnings for stretches of Highway 97: Environment Canada

Feb 19, 2022 | 8:41 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George and area drivers planning to do some Family Day long weekend traveling should check their local highway conditions before they depart.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Highway 97 from Clinton to 100 Mile House via Begbie Summit. The forecaster says a cold front moving through the B.C. southern interior Saturday (Feb. 19) afternoon will increase the chance of brief periods of heavy snow with near zero visibility.

Further north, Environment Canada says Highway 97 Pine Pass has the potential for heavy and blowing snow due to an Arctic front blasting through the Rockies Saturday afternoon and evening. Winds gusting up to 50 km/h can reduce visibility.

Road conditions are available at DriveBC.
